Liquid Steel Leader PackagingAnglers, quickly and easily tie on the pre-rigged Liquid Steel Leader to provide the ultimate in strength and durability while taking advantage of the extra stealth and increased lure action afforded by this ultra-thin steel leader material. No twisting, crimping or clamping needed.

The ultra-thin diameter makes it more stealth in the water (compared to standard steel leader) yet provides the strength and durability you need. And the lower stretch (compared to fluorocarbon leader) allows for just the right sensitivity and quick hooksets.

Featuring German-engineered 1:19 braided steel, super strong and exceptional value. Available in single 15-, 19- and 27-inch lengths, and 8-, 12-, 17-, 24- and 30-lb test strengths. I used my LSL-RID19-17 product on a tip-up for northern pike this weekend. Although the spot I was fishing in was a community spot with about 40 tip ups (rods) in the water, I only saw 2 northern pike caught. One was a very small northern pike in the early 20 inch range, and the other is mine.

Winter pike are very picky eaters. Unlike open water fishing where one can cast and retreive the lure; ice fishing is a different approach where one dangles the live bait down a hole and the fish approaches the bait, studies the bait, then decicdes if it wants the bait. We call these fish “leader” shy. Sometimes on camera, one can see the fish studying the situation.

I managed to catch a 28 inch northern pike on this product. The RID19-17 is a 19 inch, 17 lb leader tied off to a double hook, one hook is larger than the other. I attached the golden shiner to the large hook. The northern pike took the hook deep so, in this situation, the number of hooks didn’t matter.

Good morning, Pam. It was certainly nice meeting you at the ICAST Show. I want to thank you for giving me as much time as you did to explain all of the products in your booth. You were kind enough to give me a couple of your Liquid Steel leaders to try. Well, I tried your 24 lb. test leader on a musky outing I had the weekend after ICAST. The attached photo will show you if your leader worked. I have to be honest with you; I really didn’t think the leader was big enough to be used for musky fishing. My fishing partner laughed at me when he saw the leader I was using. I hooked up with this brute on my third cast. I had my doubts that the leader would hold up, but obviously it did. I still think a heavier test leader would be better for muskies, but I just wanted to try it. I’m impressed!

Liquid Steel Leader has the strength and abrasion resistance of common steel leader, it is pre-rigged and ready for action right out of the box. This leader is thinner for better lure presentation and more stealth under water – a great advancement in leader material. A big step toward easier and more productive fishing!
